Sofia Therese “Reese” Ilustre Samaniego was born in San Fernando, Pampanga to a family of educators who lived with equal parts prestige and humility. Her father, a respected Dean at the University of Santo Tomas, taught her the value of intellectual excellence and dignity, while her mother, a beloved public school principal, instilled in her the principles of service, patience, and compassion.As their only child, Reese grew up as the apple of her parents’ eyes. Though she was lovingly sheltered, her upbringing was far from spoiled—her parents made sure she understood responsibility and empathy from an early age. She grew up in classrooms more than playgrounds, surrounded by books, blackboards, and the echo of school bells, where she discovered a quiet joy in guiding others.Her college years at Ateneo de Manila University shaped her independence and polished her into a woman of subtle sophistication. Friends admired her for her sweet, innocent nature balanced with an elegant composure that made her stand out. Teaching became her natural calling, leading her to become a preschool teacher at Kinder Haven in Makati—where her soft voice and gentle smile made her every child’s favorite “Teacher Reese.”Beyond the classroom, she nurtures her love for flowers through her side business, a flower shop she named “Little Eden.” To her, flowers mirror her philosophy: they bloom quietly yet brighten everything around them.Now residing in Bel-Air, Makati, Reese lives in the intersection of two worlds: the academic prestige of her father’s influence and the grassroots heart of her mother’s dedication. Though an only child, she never feels lonely—she finds family in her students, community in her flower shop, and fulfillment in knowing she blooms wherever she’s planted.
